Printing Inks Eastman™ cellulose acetate butyrate (CAB) is a raw material crucial to ink performance properties. It serves as a useful component for viscosity modification, release, binding, or other purposes.
Pharmaceuticals Eastman™ cellulose esters are used extensively in pharmaceutical dosage forms, usually for controlled drug delivery. Typical technologies that employ cellulose esters include semipermeable membranes for osmotic drug delivery applications, sustained release from cellulose ester-based matrix formulations, taste masking, and microparticles formed from cellulose esters and drugs. Both Eastman™ cellulose acetate butyrate (CAB) and Eastman™ cellulose acetate (CA) are formulated in commercial drug applications.
Nail Care Eastman™ cellulose acetate butyrate (CAB) and cellulose acetate propionate (CAP) are used in nail polish for a variety of performance characteristics. Compared to nitrocellulose and other products, which often display chemical instability and are packaged as an alcohol-wet powder, Eastman™ CAB and Eastman™ CAP are supplied as stable, easy-to-handle, dry powders. CAB and CAP films have excellent gloss and clarity, and do not yellow like nitrocellulose. Cellulose esters are well known in the coatings industry for their pigment wetting characteristics, compatibility, excellent flow-out properties, and fast dry times. |
