Unlike most competitive UV incorporation methods where the dye is added to the polymer melt, Heatwave polymer’s UV-absorbing dye is chemically bonded to the polymer. The bonded dye is immobile and will not extract, migrate to the surface, and/or volatilize. This UV inhibitor solution does not exhibit the difficulties and expense associated with liquid carriers or concentrates. This method of incorporating the UV inhibitor assures the converter that the UV protection is in the polymer and will provide consistent performance. Brand owners can be assured that their containers will have UV protection. The specification for UV performance is: <10% transmission at 370 nm for a 12-mil-thick film.
