Model for Innovation

“Can you imagine a resin supplier coming to a designer like myself to create packaging using their resin?” asks Marc Rosen, superstar cosmetic packaging designer whose resume includes seven FiFi awards – the fragrance industry’s version of the Oscar. Not only did Eastman approach Rosen, it also brought in three rival molders – Alcan Packaging Beauty, C+N Packaging and Leidel Corporation in cooperation with CPP Global. Together, they produced five skin care jars made from Eastar™ copolyester CN that achieve the same artistry as glass. Eastar™ CN is the latest addition The Glass Polymer™ family of cosmetic materials.

“Marc’s idea was to do for plastics what he had done for glass,” says Abe Weisfelner, vice president of sales for Leidel.

Says Rosen: “In the end what we created is not only a series of beautiful jars but we’ve created a collaboration that has never existed before in this industry.”
