Hiring Process -Texas Operations
  1. Submit your resume. The Texas Operations of Eastman Chemical Company identifies process operator, general maintenance mechanic, and control systems mechanic candidates for hire through our Eastman Career Day events which are held in collaboration with the East Texas Workforce Center (ETWC). While not required, a hard copy resume can be submitted with the Eastman Application for Employment if a candidate is eligible to receive an application as spelled out in Section 3 below.

  2. Your resume matches. The resume and application contents will be reviewed for further employment consideration.

  3. Application. Applications will only be distributed by the ETWC after an Eastman Career Day event has been announced. To participate in Eastman Career Day, a candidate must possess a grade of "C" or better in Algebra 1 or higher math AND in Chemistry or Biology in either high school or college. If these requirements are met as demonstrated by official school transcripts, the ETWC will provide eligible candidates with employment forms (i.e. Eastman Application for Employment and Background Check Authorization Release form). It is also required that candidates submit official copies of ALL high school and college educational transcripts (including GED certification as appropriate) when the completed employment forms are returned to the ETWC. The ETWC will in turn schedule the candidate for an interview with an Eastman representative during Career Day.

  4. Pre-Employment Test. This test will be offered to eligible candidates after the Eastman Career Day interviews are concluded. The pre-employment test provides insight as to a candidate's mechanical aptitude, verbal and numerical reasoning skills, ability to work in an organized way, etc. Candidates will receive the results of their tests in the mail. Those who pass the test will be put into our active interview files for two years.

  5. Interview. If selected for an on-site interview, the interview team typically consists of the Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, and First-line Supervisor of the hiring department. During the interview, the discussion will center on the position, candidate skills, and qualifications. Behavioral style interview questions will be used. If after the interview a candidate is not offered the position, he/she may be considered for other openings during the two years that their application is in the active file.

  6. You are selected. After performing a background check that involves items such as police records, criminal court records, education and work history records, etc., a HR representative will make a contingent job offer depending on the background check results. The offer is contingent on the results of a pre-placement physical exam, drug/alcohol screens, and a physical assessment test. If the offer is accepted, arrangements will be made to complete these requirements and report to work.

  7. On-Boarding. You will receive a welcome letter that will include your employment date as well as information regarding on-line required pre-employment forms that you will need to complete prior to your first day of work. On your first day of work, you will meet with a HR representative that will provide you with additional information as well as help get you set for your career with Eastman.

  8. Welcome......you are now a part of the Eastman Team!
