Since 1990, Eastman has encouraged open communications with our neighbors by forming
Community Advisory Panels at five U.S. sites; one in Workington, England and one in Middelburg, the Netherlands. The Panels are composed of local residents who are a good cross-section of the community. They meet regularly with company representatives on topics of mutual interest.
Panels may include:
- Civic leaders
- Government officials
- Environmentalists
- Educators
- Medical professionals
- Business leaders
- Retired citizens
- Clergy
The partnerships between the Advisory Panels and the company are very beneficial in building relationships and mutual understanding. Other benefits include:
- Helping citizens understand how industry and company issues relate to their own personal concerns
- Helping Eastman better understand citizens' concerns that are not always apparent
- Providing opportunities to explain complex issues associated with chemical production in a setting that fosters open and candid discussion.
