Company decision to discontinue is part of strategic growth plan
KINGSPORT, TENN., (March 16, 2011) – Eastman Chemical Company announces today the discontinuance of manufacture and supply of two of its ortho-phthalate plasticizers. As of Dec. 31, 2011, Eastman will no longer offer Eastman™ DEP and Eastman™ DBP plasticizers.
“With the recent acquisition of the Benzoflex™ family of benzoate plasticizers and the launch of Eastman™ DBT non-phthalate plasticizer, we have an excellent and broad offering of non-phthalate alternatives in the fast-fusing, high-solvating segment that meet our customers’ needs,” says Dr. Steve Cullen, business manager for plasticizer strategy, Eastman. “Eastman™ DEP and Eastman™ DBP have been part of our portfolio for many years, but no longer form part of our strategic growth plans or vision of the future.”
Eastman will continue to manufacture and deliver Eastman™ DEP and Eastman™ DBP throughout the remainder of this calendar year. During this time, it will be business as usual for existing customers and Eastman will work to ensure these customers a smooth transition and will strive to accommodate any additional needs that customers may have.
The company has contacted customers affected by this announcement; however, customers are encouraged to contact their Eastman sales representative should they have any questions or visit www.EastmanPlasticizers.com.
