The two companies talk insight, long-term vision and the importance of early teamwork as the fuel for their success in the medical industry
Capelle aan den IJssel, The Netherlands. (November 13, 2017) – Eastman Chemical is focusing its participation at the COMPAMED exhibition on its collaborative work in the medical industry, while also setting aside time to celebrate the tenth anniversary of its Eastman Tritan™ copolyester.
Visitors to the booth# P04 in Hall 8a, Messe Duesseldorf, Germany (November 13-16) are able to discuss all things Eastman, particularly its Eastman Tritan™ and Eastar™ 6763 copolyesters, but also to find out how the company works closely with its customers to create breakthrough products for the ever-changing and highly regulated medical market.
As testament to this, medical devices manufacturer Elcam Medical is present at the show as well to talk about the most recent collaboration with Eastman that resulted in the creation of new chemical - and lipid-resistant SafeT™ stopcocks. The process saw the product being conceived, the optimum material selected, followed by design, trialing, and manufacturing in the shortest possible time. A key benefit of having two top companies collaborating, highly specialized in their respective fields, was being able to troubleshoot potential problems long before they could cause any hold ups or delays to the project.
Eastman continually tests the properties of Tritan™, Eastar™ and all its medical-grade polymers, giving collaborative ventures a unique specialized analysis that the manufacturer alone might not find. A wealth of data regarding its polymers is available to Eastman’s partners, such as information that demonstrates biocompatibility or compliance with other regulations. With the forthcoming ISO change in the regulations regarding fluid management systems in hospitals, there has never been a better time for device and component manufacturers to sit down with Eastman and discuss future projects.
“Eastman is a world-leading materials supplier, but so much more as well. When given the opportunity to work with our customers – the earlier in the design process the better – we can considerably speed up the journey to market,” explains Cedric Perben, of Eastman EMEA medical applications. “With our knowledge of material behavior and machinery, together with an understanding of our customers’ needs, Eastman can be instrumental in keeping abreast of this rapidly changing industry. We look forward to furthering our relationships at COMPAMED.”
The SafeT™ stopcocks made in partnership with Elcam were made from Eastman’s revolutionary BPA-free copolyester, Tritan™, which brings value to any product that utilizes it, adding a unique blend of toughness, impact strength, clarity and chemical resistance. Today, many grades of Tritan™ are available, each specially formulated to meet the specialized needs of global and regional brand owners, molders, designers, retailers and consumers in a wide range of markets where high quality, BPA-free products are valued.
Join Eastman in Hall 8a, booth# P04 to celebrate this remarkable material and to find out more about how collaboration could benefit your company. To meet the experts of Elcam Medical visit the booth # E28 in hall 8a.
