Innovations in Insoluble Sulfur and Performance Resins Are Focus of Eastman Technology Presentations at International Elastomer Conference

Kingsport, Tenn. – September 28, 2017 – Advances in insoluble sulfur technology and the importance of performance resins will be discussed during three presentations by members of the Eastman tire additives technology team at the International Elastomer Conference October 9-12, 2017, in Cleveland, Ohio. During these presentations, attendees will gain insights into how tire manufacturers can take advantage of these innovative technologies.

  • October 10, 4:15-4:45 p.m.*: Dr. Mark Arigo, Eastman Associate Scientist, will discuss how performance hydrocarbon resins can enhance a tread formulation by impacting wet/dry grip and rolling resistance performance. Ultimately, tire manufacturers can use these resins to make their tires safer, improve handling, and increase fuel efficiency.
  • October 11, 9:30-10 a.m.*: Dr. Fred Ignatz-Hoover, Eastman Technology Fellow, will examine the superior performance of Crystex™ Cure Pro. Using plant-scale experiments and various analytical tools, he’ll demonstrate how tire manufacturers can leverage these attributes to achieve operational cost savings.
  • October 11, 4:15-4:45 p.m.*: Dr. Ignatz-Hoover will discuss a novel vulcanizing agent. Unlike conventional polymeric sulfur, this new technology is thermodynamically stable at room temperature and rubber processing temperatures. At the same time, it has the same performance characteristics as conventional insoluble sulfur.
