Strength and Design Possibilities Characterize Eastman’s Spectar Copolyester

KINGSPORT, Tenn., Feb. 22, 2005 — Brazilian designer Antonio Carlos Valle chose Eastman’s Spectar copolyester sheets to create a point of purchase display for Colgate Palmolive that earned first place in the Point of Purchase Advertising International’s POPAI Brasil Award. The display, which won in the semi-permanent – personal hygiene category, was manufactured by Visão Criativa for Colgate Palmolive’s introduction of a new dental whitener.

“My experience has been that acrylic displays often break or crack during transport.” said Valle. “So I selected Eastman’s Spectar copolyester, which has greater flexibility and durability. That means better impact resistance.”

The POPAI awards committee chose Valle’s design from more than three hundred entries in 26 classes. Heloísa Omine, president of POPAI Brasil said, “This award demonstrates the growing importance POP has had over the two last decades. These award winners help establish a close relationship between products and consumers.”

According to Gabriel Crosta, Eastman sales manager in Mercosur, the award proves that Eastman’s Spectar sheets have been “conquering” a larger share of the POP market. “Every day, more design professionals are discovering how our materials can provide them with a material difference,” said Crosta. In furthering its commitment to becoming an innovative partner for designers and brand owners, Eastman Chemical Company established the Eastman Innovation Lab Web site at www.eastmaninnovationlab.com. It is an interactive, community-based resource for designers and brand owners.
