New Pharmaceutical Grade Product Provides Formulation Flexibility for Oral Pharmaceutical Applications
Kingsport, TN., (July 11, 2008) Eastman Chemical Company is pleased to announce the availability of Eastman™ Cellulose Acetate (CA-320S NF/EP), a pharmaceutical excipient for oral dosage drug formulations that enables improved delivery of active pharmaceutical ingredients.
Eastman™ CA-320S is an excipient that is particularly useful in controlled-release applications involving membrane release or matrix release. When used for controlled release applications, CA-320S aids in drug delivery by releasing the drug in the body at a controlled rate and over a predictable period of time.
CA-320S is the newest member of the Eastman family of cellulose esters for pharmaceutical applications including CA-398-10NF/EP, CAB 171-15 NF, and CA -320S NF/EP. Each has different physical properties and with the addition of CA-320S, formulators can have greater flexibility in designing drug delivery systems for targeted and controlled, sustained, or extended release.
CA-320S NF/EP is made under current good manufacturing conditions (cGMP) for oral dose pharmaceutical applications and meets the requirements of the National Formulary (NF) and European Pharmacopeia (EP).
