Effective September 1, 2008, Norris P. Sneed has been named Senior Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer for Eastman Chemical Company. In this position, Sneed will have responsibility for Human Resources, Communications and Public Affairs and Information Technology. Prior to being named to this position, Sneed was Senior Vice President, Human Resources and Communications and Public Affairs.

A native of Lancaster, SC, Sneed received a B.S. degree in chemical engineering and a M.S. degree in engineering from the University of South Carolina. In 1999, he received a M.S. degree in management from MIT.

Sneed joined Eastman in 1979 as a chemical engineer in the company’s Carolina Operations located in Columbia, SC. In 1989, he was assigned to Eastman’s Arkansas Operations in Batesville, AR, where he was superintendent for different manufacturing and new business and development departments. In 1997, he transferred to the company’s headquarters in Kingsport, TN, to serve as assistant to the CEO. Following a year spent at the Sloan School of Management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology as a Sloan Fellow, Sneed was named Managing Director for Eastman’s Argentina operations. In 2001, he returned to the company’s headquarters to serve as Vice President of Organization Effectiveness in the Human Resources, Communications and Public Affairs organization.

Sneed is a member of the board of directors of the National Association of Manufacturers, the Paramount Theatre in Bristol, TN, and Eastman Credit Union. He is also a member of the East Tennessee State University Foundation and the Kiwanis Club.
