Energy Intensity

Goal: Improve energy efficiency of operations 2.5% year-over-year, from 2008 until 2018.

Progress: In 2012, we reduced our energy intensity by 8.1% compared to our baseline year of 2008.

Hazardous Waste Indexed to Production — (Without Biosolids)

Goal: Reduce hazardous waste (indexed to production) by 15% from 2010 to 2020 against a baseline of 0.00542kg waste/kg production in 2010.

Progress: Our 2012 hazardous waste totaled 0.00598 kg waste/kg production, a decrease of 1% compared to 2011 and an increase of 10% compared to our baseline of 0.00542.

Nitrogen Oxides (NOx) — (Tons)

Goal: Reduce nitrogen oxide (NOx) by 20% from 2010 to 2020 against a baseline of 10,359 tons in 2010.

Progress: Our 2012 NOx emissions were 10,725 tons, an increase of 3.5% compared to our baseline of 10,359 tons.

Sulfur Dioxides (SO2) — (Tons)

Goal: Reduce sulfur dioxide (SO2) by 40% from 2010 to 2020 against a baseline of 22,068 tons in 2010.

Progress: Our 2012 SO2 emissions were 22,098 tons, an increase of less than 1% compared to our baseline of 22,068 tons.

Volitile Organic Compounds (VOC) — (Tons)

Goal: Reduce total Volatile Organic Compnounds (VOC) by 15% from 2010 to 2020 against a baseline of 7,048 tons in 2010.

Progress: Our 2012 VOC emissions were 6,874 tons, a 2.58% decrease compared to our baseline of 7,048 tons.

Reportable Releases — (Releases Reported by Number)

Goal: Reduce total number of reportable releases by 25% from 2010 to 2020 against a baseline of 55 release events in 2010.

Progress: In 2012, we had 50 reportable release events, a 9% decrease compared to our naseline of 55.

Toxic Release Inventory (TRI) Emissions*

Goal: Reduce Toxic Release Inventory (TRI) emissions to the air by 25% from 2010 to 2020 against a baseline of 5.4 Mlb in 2008.

Progress: Our 2012 TRI air emissions were 5.1 Mlb for a 5.6% decrease compared to our baseline of 5.4 Mlb.

Greenhouse Gas Intensity

Goal: Reduce GHG emissions per unit of production (GHG intensity) by 20% between 2008 and 2018.
