From our beginnings in Kingsport as a manufacturer of photographic chemicals from renewable natural resources, our leadership in developing and adopting the chemical industry’s Responsible Care® initiative, and our current track record of developing practical solutions to today’s problems , Eastman has embraced its responsibility to sustainable development.

Since the 1930s, our philosophy has been to conduct business in a way that supports the success of future generations. Our journey as a chemical company founded on core values of integrity, Responsible Care® and practical results for all of our stakeholders continues as we sharpen our focus on delivering solutions that meet the world’s sustainability challenges. We did this in the 70s and 80s by developing the first modern commercial industrial gasification plant in the US to make chemicals from coal. And we are doing it now with our recent introduction of Eastman Tritan™ copolyesters, a family of products that allow brand owners alternatives without BPA in the markets where they compete.

We know that in order for us to help the world be more sustainable, we must supply our customers high quality products with strong sustainability stories; we must create value for our investors; we must provide a good place for people to work; we must be a good community citizen; and we must continually work on minimizing the environmental footprint we leave on the earth.
