Other common names

This website describes these common trees, PLT activities, and other points of interest.  For each Tree ID Stop, the most accepted common name is listed in the upper right-hand corner.   Next, the scientific name which is standard world-wide is given in italics. Various other commonly used names for the tree are listed at the top of this section.  Occasionally you will see text in red, which denotes a caution about that tree.  Green text gives additional information about the tree. 

Quick ID:

This section gives specific characters to look for, such as leaf type, leaf margins, bark color, tree height, etc.  Vocabulary words are in blue ; when you put your mouse over them, a definition appears.  (Requires IE5+ or Netscape 6+).

Each page will also contain an image of the plant being described.
