The birders from Longview (NETFO) and Tyler (Tyler Audubon Society) had an excellent trip to the Eastman Talley bottoms and Mason Lake. Overall, they spotted approximately 36 species of birds and the Least Grebe was a new record for Harrison County and the Eastman Property list. The Eastman Property List now stands at 275 species.

The birders were at Texas Eastman from 8 to 11:30 am. It drizzled through much of the morning, but was quite birdy until heavy rain started at 11 am. The bird of the day was a Least Grebe, a first record for Harrison County. Other good birds were 5 Anhingas, sitting cooperatively by the road, 8 Caspian Terns, 1 Least Tern and 1 American Avocet. There was an unusually high number (10) of Green Herons, and a smattering of  passerine migrants, including 1 Yellow-throated Warbler, 5 Yellow Warblers and a lingering Eastern Kingbird.

Thanks to Mark Edmund for leading the trip.
