Demonstration Forest
Within Eastman's Nature
and Habitat Forest near Longview, Texas, lies a 40-acre Demonstration Forest
originally established by the company in 1999. It was a project conceived by
Eastman and the Texas Cooperative Extension to provide data and a field
exhibit for a variety of forest management techniques and concepts to aid
the region in making informed decisions regarding their local land
management.
In 2007, the Demonstration Forest began a major overhaul with the help of
the Texas Forest Service, as well as a variety of local contractors. In
2009, the Demo Forest was recognized at both the state and national level.
Eastman received Tree Farm status from the American Tree Farm System, and
was also selected as a Certified Forest Steward by the Texas Forest Service.
More information about forestry topics is available from the agencies listed
on the left.
