Clean surfaces are critical for good performance for military and commercial aircraft. Good application performance to remove soil, oils, or adhesives and coatings is necessary for hand wipe cleaners. With many of the common solvents under regulation through Montreal Protocol (CFCs) or EPA's HAPs regulation, alternative cleaners have been evaluated as alternatives.

Eastman™ MPK and Eastman™ MPK, UHP solvents have been selected as an effective non-HAP solvent alternative to MEK and Toluene on military and commercial aircraft. Eastman™ MPK satisfies the rigorous aerospace performance requirements and provides good cleaning performance in removal of soils and hydraulic oils, removal of adhesives, and cleaning of paint guns. It is environmentally friendly, evaporating more slowly than alternative solvents, with no significant contribution to ground-level ozone. And the slower evaporation rate compared to MEK allows for more MPK solvent to remain in the wipe material during cleaning and extends the usable life of the wipe.
