What happens if too much or too little coalescing agent is used in latex paint?

If too little coalescing agent is used, a good homogeneous film will not form at colder temperatures. If too much is used, the VOC content will be higher which could make the paint not compliant with environmental regulations and the drying time could be longer. Texanol ester alcohol is an excellent coalescing agent.
