What is a good coalescing aid for high-gloss architectural and maintenance coatings?

Texanol ester alcohol may have too slow an evaporation rate for some high-gloss architectural and maintenance coatings. The slow rate hinders the development of early block resistance and reduces the film hardening rate. Eastman EEH glycol ether (ethylene/diethylene glycol 2-ethylhexyl ether) may be a better choice for these coatings because the evaporating rate is faster and EEH glycol is more efficient at lowering the MFFT of the paint. Less paint will be needed. This promotes a faster dry time and improves the blocking/hardness development properties of the coating. EEH glycol is essentially water insoluble and is not on the HAPs list, but is considered a VOC. For additional information, see this online publication: M-226.
