EM>Tenite cellulosics can be tailored to the requirements of the user and the corresponding application.
The mechanical properties of Tenite cellulosic plastics differ with plasticizer levels. Lower plasticizer content yields a harder surface (upto 95 R scale), higher heat resistance, greater rigidity, higher tensile strength (break values can exceed 42 MPa), and better dimensional stability. Higher plasticizer products offer increased impact strength. Notched Izod impact strength properties, at 23C can exceed 530 J/m.
Electrical properties of Tenite acetate, butyrate, and propionate are similar. All have a high dielectric constant ranging between 3.3 to 3.8 @ 1 MHz conditions, good dielectric strength and volume resistivity. The dissipation factor ranges between 0.01 and 0.15 @ 1 MHz conditions, depending on polymer formula.
Cellulosics are frequently chosen not only for their good balance of properties and ease of processing but also for their transparent appearance characteristics. Light transmission as measured per ASTM E308 is greater than 90%. Haze values are more dependent on polymer type and formula, however several formulas are comparable to the Eastar copolyester product line.
Tenite acetate, butyrate and propionate are available in an almost unlimited range of colors including variegations and pearlescent effects. Color concentrates are also available in a range of let-down ratios. |
