Extrusion

Extrusion is a process that melts, compresses, and converts plastic into continuous lengths of products such as film, sheet, pipe, filament, and others. The extruder consists of a heated barrel that contains a screw or auger that conveys the plastic material down the heated barrel. In the process, the plastic is converted from a solid to a molten state.

The melted material is then processed into the required application. The final form of the extruded plastic article is set by the shape of the die orifice and subsequent cooling processes.
