Autoclave

Autoclave sterilization uses a pressurized device designed to heat liquid solutions above their boiling point in order to achieve sterilization. This method causes bacteria, viruses, fungi and spores to be inactivated. Autoclaves in medical settings need to insure the sterility of an object. Many surgical instruments such as forceps, needle holders and scalpel handles are commonly reusable thru the use of autoclave sterilization.

For device manufacturers who want a package that is autoclavable, flexible film manufactured with Ecdel elastomers, is the clear alternative that will lower systems cost and improve performance. Unlike nylon/PP films, Ecdel containing film differentiates by offering improved physical properties, clarity, and greater dimensional stability pre & post sterilization. All of this provides the OEM with greater packaging performance at a lower systems cost while ensuring terminal sterility for the medical device.
