Eastman Chemical Company (NYSE:EMN) has introduced DuraStar polymers, a new series of resins for use in high-clarity injection molded displays. "Our customer expressed a need for a clear resin that was chemical resistant and easy to process," said Jimmy Dickerson, business market manager. "With DuraStar polymers, molders get very forgiving materials that offer the advantages of fast cycle times, minimal drying and little retooling." Tailored specifically for injection molding, DuraStar polymers are versatile materials balancing high clarity and both impact and chemical resistance with ease of processing. These materials provide the characteristics needed in a wide range of demanding point-of-purchase applications including mannequins, card holders, shelf extenders, countertop units, literature displays and sign holders. These polymers comply with the compositional requirements of European directives for plastics used in food-contact applications. Under regulations administered by U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), DuraStar polymers may lawfully be used as articles or components of articles intended for use in contact with food and used in compliance with applicable regulations. Available globally, these polymers can be purchased in formulations with or without mold release. One series of DuraStar polymers is designed for molding heavy-wall sections, and another series provides greater impact resistance. These natural resins are water clear, but they can also be tinted or colored. Clear, tough and chemical resistant, DuraStar polymers provide an array of choices to meet the design and functional needs of the display industry. |
