Deep Dyed Films Provide Protection from UV Rays and More
CPFilms deep dyed films utilize both water- and solvent-based dyeing processes to produce custom colors of all types for our customers, ranging from basic black to fluorescents. A leader in film technologies, our proprietary process for deep dyeing was first developed in the mid-1950s and we are continually working to advance this technology. Our films are used in a wide range of product applications including protective laminates for electronic, solar energy and medical applications, solar control films and specialty UV-absorbing films that can block >99% of damaging ultraviolet radiation.
Using our proprietary technology in a state-of-the-art manufacturing environment, we impregnate dyestuffs and UV absorbers throughout the matrix of the film substrate, preventing flakes and rub offs. Film thicknesses can range from 48 gauge to 10.0 mils (12 to 250 microns) and available substrates include filled, unfilled, matte or scratch-brushed polyester (PET) as well as other required substrate materials. Deep dyed films may also be metallized for heightened brilliance and our range of dyeing is extensive, featuring:
- Light transmission from 87% VLT to < 1% VLT (lower at some wavelengths)
- Optical density from 0.06 to 4.0
- UV protection some films have >99% absorption
