Eastman’s booth features the award-winning Saflex® S series advanced solar absorbing polyvinyl butyral (PVB) interlayers, Saflex Q series advanced acoustic PVB interlayers and Saflex® acoustic head-up display interlayer.
Visitors will be able to participate in several "hands-on" demonstrations, including a solar heat reduction demonstration showcasing the benefits of Saflex S series advanced solar absorbing interlayers. In addition, participants will able to "hear the difference" that Saflex Q series advanced acoustic interlayers make in automotive glazing applications through a new demonstration constructed exclusively for the JSAE event.
Advanced acoustic performance from automotive glass with zero weight gain
Saflex Q series advanced acoustic interlayer allows laminators to produce glass laminates with enhanced acoustical properties compared to laminates made with standard polyvinyl butyral (PVB). Compared to non-laminated monolithic glass, Saflex Q Series improves overall sound transmission loss by up to 5dB, especially in the critical windnoise region where the improvement is in the 10dB range. By adopting thinner acoustic windshields, automakers benefit by improved fuel efficiency via lower vehicle weight while maintaining acoustic comfort.

Saflex S series interlayer represents an award-winning breakthrough in the automotive industry with the introduction of a PVB interlayer that effectively absorbs solar heat transmitted through the vehicle's glazing which reduces air conditioning usage and improves vehicle fuel economy and CO2 emissions.
