Will my Eastman product be available in the UK after the March, 29 2019?

A good overview of the process in the unlikely event that the UK leaves the EU without a deal, is given on the UK DEFRA website. Eastman is preparing itself based on the mentioned steps to secure supply into the UK. At this point in time we don’t expect any problems to perform the validation of existing registrations and provide the relevant data package to UK authority within the given timeframe. Eastman plans to register relevant UK-imported chemicals in due course, which means notify within 180 days and obtain a registration afterwards.

Will Eastman register its products produced in the UK for EU-REACH?

Eastman owns several REACH registrations under UK legal entities, including Eastman’s facility in Newport, Wales, UK. Following Guidance from ECHA, and in order to be able to continue selling the products produced at this Newport site, Eastman has created an Only Representative legal entity in REACH-IT.

During the period between 12 – 29 March 2019, Eastman plans to transfer the registrations according to this Guidance thus securing access to market for our EEA-based customers.

Will Eastman register its products imported into the UK for UK-REACH?

As mentioned above, Eastman manufactures several products in Newport, UK. Following Brexit, Eastman will need to notify the UK Authority Defra within 120 days of its intention to register the substances manufactured in Newport under UK-REACH.

In addition, Eastman imports many products into the UK. Eastman will notify Defra of its intention to register these products under UK-REACH. The deadline for these notifications is 120 days after March 29, 2019.
