California Proposition 65 is officially known as the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986.
The impact of “Prop 65” goes well beyond water—and the state of California—to limit what materials can be used in food contact, skin contact, and other products.
Notably, it affects the use of polycarbonate and some other commonly used engineering polymers that contain bisphenol A (BPA), BPS, and other “materials of concern.”
Most Eastman specialty plastics, including Eastman Tritan™ copolyester, Eastman Trēva™ engineering bioplastic, and others, are made without bisphenols, styrenics, halogens, or other materials on the Prop 65 list.
