The move reinforces the global specialty materials company's commitment to the region.

KINGSPORT, Tennessee

Due to strong local demand, Eastman is now producing Eastman 168™ non-phthalate plasticizer at its Mauá plant in the state of São Paulo, Brazil. It's the first site in the country to produce this line of plasticizer, which is a preferred alternative for several applications, including footwear, children's toys, films, and plastisols.

"This is the first site outside the United States to produce Eastman 168, which sends a clear signal of our commitment to the region," said Luis Fernando Zagolin, Eastman product manager for general-purpose plasticizers. "We are determined to ensure that we remain an important market player in South America, providing a diverse portfolio of plasticizers to the local market."
Eastman 168 is a non-phthalate plasticizer that has been safely used for more than 45 years, with proven performance in flexible PVC and a variety of other applications. It is a cost-effective, general-purpose, non-phthalate plasticizer with a clean toxicology profile.

"Eastman is the world's largest plasticizer provider and is bringing our technology closer to the local community and making an important investment in Brazil," said Fernando de Vincenzo, commercial manager for chemical intermediates at Eastman. "This is an example of the strong responsibility we feel to the communities and regions where we do business."
In addition to Eastman 168, other plasticizers for a variety of applications are made at the Mauá site.
