Product description

Premixture of silage additives
AIV 2000 NC is a formic acid based product recommended for pre-wilted silage (DM 25–45%) and crimping applications (moisture 30–45%). AIV 2000 NC, containing formic acid and its salt acts by inhibiting the activity of micro-organisms involved in spoilage. By the inclusion of propionic acid and sodium benzoate the inhibitory effect is extended towards moulds and yeasts. The product controls heating of silage after opening of the silo by preventing growth of yeasts and mold.

As a formic acid based product AIV 2000 NC rapidly drops the pH in the beginning of ensiling, which reduces proteolysis and growth of undesired micro-organisms. Lactic acid fermentation is restricted which in turn has several benefits such as higher silage intake, higher production of microbial protein in rumen and higher milk protein and fat content. AIV treated silages also had better aerobic stability than silages made with homofermentative lactic acid bacteria strains. AIV 2000 NC combines beneficial effect of formic acid and some buffering (sodium formate) to reduce metal and skin corrosivity.
