Stephen G. Crawford

Stephen G. Crawford serves as executive vice president and chief technology and sustainability officer at Eastman. He first held this position through 2024 where he was instrumental in shaping Eastman’s innovation-driven growth strategy and leading many technological and sustainability advancements.

In January 2025, Crawford assumed the position of executive vice president, methanolysis operations and worldwide engineering & construction transformation where he oversaw the successful startup and commercial ramp-up of Eastman’s molecular recycling facility in Kingsport, Tenn. Crawford returned to his role as chief technology and sustainability officer in January 2026.

Crawford joined the company in 1987 as a chemical engineer and has held senior roles across manufacturing operations and technology, including vice president of research and development for the Advanced Materials segment and vice president of research and development for Additives & Functional Products.

Crawford is a member of the American Chemical Society and the Industrial Research Institute. He serves on the board of directors of Launch Tennessee (Tennessee Technology Development Corporation), the University of Tennessee’s Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering Board of Advisors, and UT’s External Advisory Board for Research.

A native of Kingsport, Tennessee, he holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the University of Tennessee.
