Case Study 1 - Dishwasher Durability

Eastman Tritan™ copolyester provides greater dishwasher stress crack resistance.
Laboratory sample bars were subjected to a range of strains in three-point bending fixtures and placed inside the dishwasher. Eastman Tritan™ copolyester showed no evidence of cracking or crazing at up to 500 dishwasher cycles at any level of applied strain. PC bars showed significant stress cracking at all levels of applied strain at a relatively low number of dishwasher cycles.

The graph to the right shows the number of dishwasher cycles required to break the sample using a leading powdered detergent in a residential dishwasher. PC bars under 1% strain failed after only three dishwasher cycles.
