ST. GABRIEL, La., April 7, 2025 — Eastman now produces dimethylaminopropylamine with enhanced sustainability (DMAPA ES) at its manufacturing site in St. Gabriel, Louisiana.

By using renewable raw materials, DMAPA ES helps improve the global warming potential (GWP) up to as much as 50%* for producers of cocamidopropyl betaine (CAPB) surfactants in consumer products.

“This product exemplifies our commitment to sustainability and innovation,” said Oliwia Roeder, Personal Care Product Manager at Eastman. “It provides our customers with the tools they need to reduce their environmental impact while maintaining product performance. This expansion, along with our initial sales in 2024, creates exciting opportunities for our organization and our customers.”

Eastman helps manufacturers incorporate environmentally responsible practices into their production processes at early stages. The certified renewable content is achieved by using a mass balance approach.

DMAPA ES enhances the sustainability of consumer products and aligns with the growing demand for greener alternatives in the market.

“We’re excited to build upon our production of DMAPA ES in Ghent, Belgium,” said Roeder. "The addition of production at the North American site will provide our customers with global coverage.”

The introduction of DMAPA ES is part of Eastman’s ongoing efforts to lead the chemical industry toward more sustainable practices. The company aims to foster a circular economy by integrating certified, renewable raw materials that benefit businesses and the planet.

Both production sites comply with the requirements of the ISCC Plus certification system.
