Application via drinking water
Water is the most essential nutrient for livestock, and the water intake of monogastric animals is two to three times the amount of feed they consume. When animals are in suboptimal condition, feed intake can be reduced. Therefore, application through drinking water can be a solution. Our Protaq product portfolio includes a number of complementary feeds that can be applied through drinking water.
During the post-weaning period, piglets are extremely susceptible to all kinds of digestive disorders as a result of environmental, physiological, and social stress factors. The change from sow’s milk to solid feed places a heavy burden on the immature digestive system of weaned piglets. The supplementation of Eastman Protural™ is an effective feeding strategy to alleviate post-weaning complications without using antibiotics.
Feed costs represent a considerable part of total broiler production costs. Optimizing feed cost and feed utilization efficiency are critical for today’s animal production industry. The feed market is continuously looking for additives which can reduce total feed cost. Eastman has developed a new product–Eastman Enhanz™–that improves the feed conversion rate and the digestibility of proteins and fats while reducing the effects of oxidative stress.
Some animal feed formulations can result in high feed pH. This in turn can result in making the feed more susceptible to deterioration. Lowering the pH of feed prevents molding and the proliferation of bacteria. Over the past 20 years, various acids and salts have been used for this purpose. Organic acids are widely considered to be the most cost-effective option.
Eastman offers a range of superior feed-grade liquid and solid choline chloride. Choline has a unique function–not only contributing to the formation of betaine but also acetylcholine, phosphatidylcholine, and phospholipids, which are key to a good working metabolism. Choline is present in most feed ingredients; however, 95% of the choline is present as phosphatidylcholine which only directly contributes to the formation of cell membranes. Also, choline can be synthesized in the body but usually not up to the amounts required to fullly cover all metabolic needs. In the compound feed sector, it is beneficial to incorporate choline in feed for poultry, pigs, crustaceans, and calves, as well as in pet food–in the form of choline chloride.
Eastman offers a range of minerals that can be added to feed/feedstuffs to help maintain healthy animals and optimal growth.
