Talks will be given at Tire Technology Expo 2020 in Hannover, Germany, Feb. 25–27.

KINGSPORT, Tennessee

Manufacturers and formulators looking for better tire performance, sustainability and production efficiency in a challenging business environment can find solutions at three talks from Eastman experts at Tire Technology Expo 2020, Feb. 25–27 in Hannover, Germany.

“This is a perfect forum for our customers to hear about our latest innovations,” said Brock Thomas, technology director of Eastman tire additives. “For example, we’ve been the historic leader in insoluble sulfur, and our newest breakthrough, Eastman Crystex™ Cure Pro, demonstrates that we’re committed to investing in multiple generations of the product.”

Cure Pro and the benefits of process optimization will be the focus of one of the talks. Other talks include the benefits of Eastman Impera™ performance resins for boosting tire performance and Eastman solutions for sustainability in the tire industry, from energy efficiency to waste reduction and longer-lasting tires.

Conference exhibits will feature equipment and materials from the major suppliers to the world’s tire industry along with workshops and an awards dinner. Eastman team members will be available for consultation throughout the expo at stand C216.

The Eastman talks include:

  • "Processing Value Awaits with Eastman Crystex™ Cure Pro Insoluble Sulfur,” by Frederick Ignatz-Hoover, 11:45 on Tuesday, Feb. 25. Ignatz-Hoover is a technology fellow responsible for developing new products for the tire additives business. His presentation will show that when Eastman process optimization methodologies are applied to mixing or calendaring operations involving Cure Pro, dramatic improvements in processing time and energy use have been observed, ranging from 10% to 40%.
  • "Resin-Polymer Compatibility and Partitioning as a Tool for Optimizing Tread Performance,” by Gennaro Della Vecchia, 12:10 on Tuesday, Feb. 25. Della Vecchia is group leader for application development and technical service for tire additives in Europe and the Americas. He will explain how optimized resins can boost dynamic performance, including wet grip, rolling resistance, wear, and processing. For immiscible polymer systems, resins can partition between the polymer phases, influencing compound performance and reducing performance tradeoffs.
  • "Sustainable Innovations for the Tire Industry,” by Alberto Ronzani, 16:25 on Wednesday, Feb. 26. Ronzani is market development manager for tires. He will discuss the tire industry’s sustainability challenges and Eastman solutions that offer performance differentiation and competitive advantages. He will explain how CO2 emissions can be reduced and substances like cobalt, formaldehyde and resorcinol can be replaced.
