Eastman’s Pace Operations manufactures amines, which are used in everyday products and processes including water treatment, food and agriculture, and personal care products like shampoo and dishwashing soap.

If you notice an odor you believe may be attributable to the Pace site, please contact us by calling 850-995-5405 and leave a detailed message with your contact information. A site representative will return your call to address your concerns. 

Since Eastman’s acquisition of the site, Eastman has made significant improvements to reduce odor events. We employ regular inspections, leak checks, maintenance practices and odor response procedures to help reduce potential odor sources and address concerns quickly. The facility has operated within our permitted framework. We take our environmental responsibilities seriously, and we continue to provide monitoring and reporting information to FDEP as required

We operate with a zero-incident mindset and always take time to do the job safely. Here are some details of how we treat safety as a foundational, core value:

• Our Total Safety Program consists of policies, processes and compliance training to uphold the highest standards for both personal and process safety.
• Employees receive regular safety training through assigned learning plans, and our on-site Emergency Service Team is trained to respond to first aid, rescue and environmental incidents.
• We maintain rigorous environment protection systems and policies to ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations and permit standards.
• Our quality and regulatory certifications include ACC Responsible Care®, ISO 9001, RSPO, ISCC Plus, Kosher and Sustainable Palm Oil.

We maintain a community alert system to notify nearby residents in the unlikely event that an emergency could affect areas outside the site. Seven sirens are located around the site perimeter, and we perform a weekly test of the sirens each Wednesday at 10 a.m.

We conduct a full-volume test of the system the first Sunday of every month. This test will include three messages:

• Message 1: “This is a test of the early warning system; this is only a test.”
• Message 2: “Shelter in place, shelter in place.”
• Message 3: “All clear, all clear.”
  • In an actual emergency, this means residents should go indoors, shelter in place and wait for the all-clear (message 3).

If an actual emergency occurs, the sirens will inform the community whether to shelter in place or whether the situation is all clear.

If you hear a siren during an actual emergency, follow official instructions and shelter in place if directed. If the situation is all clear, the siren system will communicate that as well.

Eastman trains employees regularly, conducts annual emergency drills with local first responders, and participates in tabletop exercises with Santa Rosa Emergency Management, police, fire and local medical services to help strengthen preparedness and coordination.

Like all Eastman manufacturing sites, Pace Operations maintains a detailed plan for responding to emergencies. For Pace, our plan includes responding to severe weather events like hurricanes, so we can keep our people and community safe. We review the plan and practice our responses on an annual basis to consistently improve. Our safety measures include established procedures and checklists for securing essential equipment and supplies, following communication plans, safely shutting down operations when necessary and maintaining essential personnel on site at all times.

We collaborate closely with local officials on emergency preparedness, coordinating with Santa Rosa County Emergency Management, the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office and Pace Fire Rescue.

Residents can sign up for Alert Santa Rosa, the county’s emergency notification system, to receive time-sensitive information about severe weather, evacuations, shelter-in-place instructions and other protective actions. You can choose to receive alerts by phone call, text message, email or other available methods. Eastman’s community alert siren system supplements, but does not replace, the Alert Santa Rosa system and other official emergency instructions. Eastman’s Community Advisory Panel, or CAP, is a regular forum in which Eastman site leaders dialogue with Pace community leaders. It is facilitated by an independent third party, TJC Group, and includes a broad range of local perspectives.

We have a talented workforce of around 90 Eastman team members in a range of positions, including operators, engineers, maintenance technicians, lab technicians, administrative staff and safety and environmental professionals. Pace also hosts approximately 50 onsite contractor and tenant employees.

Our site contributes more than $15 million annually to the local economy in employee salaries and benefits and more than $3 million annually in state and local taxes. Our team members also contribute many volunteer hours to organizations throughout the community

We are deeply embedded in this community where approximately 80% of our team lives and works. Our team regularly volunteers and supports local organizations, including Feeding the Gulf Coast, Santa Rosa Kids’ House, the Santa Rosa Animal Shelter and Sertoma Club.

We also participate in Santa Rosa County Schools Career Day and support family-focused community efforts, including holiday programs and back-to-school initiatives. Eastman sponsors Ice Flyers Military Night and provides backpacks for local students. Through these partnerships and activities, our team members contribute their time, skills and resources to organizations and programs that support the Pace community.
