Location

Eastman is investing $1.3 billion to expand its Longview, Texas, operations and build its second U.S. molecular recycling facility there. This will help advance U.S. plastic manufacturing innovation. We have been active in the Longview community for more than 70 years and employ more than 1,500 team members there. The expansion will create more than 200 full-time jobs and 1,000 temporary construction jobs during development. It will also support about 4,000 new U.S. hires across the recycling value chain.

Eastman’s molecular recycling facility will help reduce dependence on imported PET. This facility will transform 110,000 metric tons of hard-to-recycle plastic waste — equivalent to about 11 billion water bottles — into like-new plastic each year. These renewed materials will support a range of products — from food and beverage packaging to medical equipment to personal care items and hydration bottles — as well as fibers used in textiles, construction and automotive manufacturing.

PepsiCo is among the early adopters, committing to a significant volume of the new plant’s output.

Feedstock
opportunities

The project sits within a 300-mile radius of four of the 11 most populated cities in the country and several U.S. material recovery facilities (MRFs). This strategic location will create multiple low-cost access points to post-consumer plastic waste, ensuring a reliable domestic feedstock stream. It will enhance supply chain transparency and cut transportation distances while turning plastic otherwise headed to landfill into new, high-value material.
