Eastman Tritan™ copolyester redefines durability—in and out of the dishwasher.
Dishwasher durability is a combination of three factors—all highlighting clear advantages for Eastman Tritan™ copolyester:
-
Hydrolytic stability. Tritan resists degradation and stress cracking in hot, wet dishwasher environments, even with cleaning solutions, surfactants, and alkaline cleaning agents.
-
Chemical resistance. Tritan, like traditional copolyesters, has excellent chemical resistance properties which allow it to maintain its physical properties when exposed to a broad array of foodstuffs, residential and commercial detergents, and sanitizers.
-
Residual stress. Tritan typically produces parts with lower levels of residual stress than polycarbonate (PC), improving the durability of the molded article.
Another aspect of durability—in and out of the dishwasher—is Tritan’s toughness:
- Small appliance components made with Tritan have greater impact resistance than those made with SAN, so there is less breakage and scratching.
- Parts made with Tritan offer greater shatter resistance than glass with lower density that makes wet and slick products from the dishwasher or sink easier to handle.
