Eastman

Applications

Eastman cellulose esters are used in many different membrane filtration applications. These are divided into gas separations and filtration of liquids. Eastman offers a range of cellulose ester compositions and molecular weights that allows formulators to fine-tune desirable properties, including water flux, salt rejection, and solubility parameters. In addition, these products are available for use in applications that require food contact compliance. This versatility of choice helps formulators achieve their production and performance goals.

Gas filtration

Gas filtration

In natural gas filtration, cellulose triacetate (CTA) and cellulose diacetate (CDA) are still the leading polymers, with inherent selectivity for CO2/CH4 of 20-25.

Liquid filtration

Eastman’s membrane materials can be used as the main polymer or as an additive to others to reduce fouling. They are FDA approved for food contact in these applications.
