Eastman’s broad portfolio of cellulose esters offers a wide range of physical, solubility, and intercompatibility properties for a variety of applications. Consideration of Tg, viscosity, solubility, hardness, flexibility, chemical resistance, and other properties can help dictate the best cellulose ester for a specific application. In addition, cellulose esters can be blended to achieve a desired result. If your application requires a very low VOC––such as for a high-solids coating––products from the Eastman Solus™ performance additives portfolio are recommended.

While the recommended cellulose esters shown for each application are the most commonly used ones, quite often two or more grades of cellulose esters will be blended to achieve desired formulation or film properties.
