Heat transfer fluids have been part of the synthetic fiber manufacturing process for more than 50 years. They can be used in each step of the process, including polymer manufacturing, spinning, heat treating, annealing and drawing.
Eastman Therminol® heat transfer fluids are the most widely used fluids in the fiber industry because of their durability and reliability. Both liquid-phase and vapor-phase Therminol can be used, depending on the type of operation. Therminol delivers the correct physical properties, heat transfer efficiency and thermal stability needed for these demanding applications.
Therminol 66 is a high-temperature, liquid-phase heat transfer fluid that remains pumpable at low temperatures and offers exceptional thermal stability. It is specifically engineered to resist solids formation and system fouling, ensuring improved reliability and potential cost savings.
Therminol LT is a synthetic aromatic heat transfer fluid effective in both liquid- and vapor-phase applications. It has excellent heat transfer properties, and its low viscosity makes it ideal for extreme cooling at low temperatures.
Therminol VP-1 is a synthetic heat transfer fluid composed of diphenyl oxide (DPO) and biphenyl designed for ultrahigh temperatures. It offers exceptional thermal stability and low viscosity, ensuring reliable performance in vapor- and liquid-phase systems from 12° to 400°C (54° to 750°F).
Therminol VP-3 is a synthetic heat transfer fluid for vapor-phase applications at lower temperatures than traditional DPO/biphenyl fluids like Therminol VP-1. It’s easy to handle with little odor.
