Eastman Therminol® heat transfer fluids offer the precise temperature control, thermal stability and heat transfer coefficients needed for Organic Rankine cycle (ORC) system applications.
ORC systems are widely used in electricity production through the capture of heat from various sources. Among those sources are waste gases from industrial processes such as cement, glass or metal processing that otherwise would escape into the atmosphere. This expanding sustainable technology is helping reduce the global energy footprint.
ORC is a process designed to use high- or medium-temperature Therminol fluids with lower operating pressures and higher partial load efficiency than conventional power plant turbines. Therminol also serves as an excellent heat-transfer medium in ORC hybrid applications, such as combined concentrated solar power and ORC.
Therminol 54 is a synthetic fluid designed for reliable heat transfer at bulk temperatures up to 280°C (540°F). Ideal for nonpressurized or low-pressure indirect heating systems, it provides efficient process heat without the need for high pressures.
Therminol 55 is a synthetic heat transfer fluid designed for moderate-temperature applications in nonpressurized or low-pressure indirect heating systems. It provides efficient and dependable uniform process heat without the need for high pressures.
Therminol 59 is a synthetic heat transfer fluid known for its excellent low-temperature pumping characteristics and thermal stability. It is ideally suited for combination heating and cooling applications, providing effective heat transfer rates even at temperatures as low as 20°C (70°F).
