Why the cups we use matter

500 billion

Estimates put global single‑use cup use at about 500 billion per year1. That’s one million every minute.

100 years

Plastic cups and LDPE-lined paper cups can take hundreds of years to decompose2.

1 use

The vast majority of conventional disposable cups cannot be recycled or composted and end up in landfills after just one use.

Why cups with Eastman Solus?

Conventional paper cups are coated with LDPE (low-density polyethylene), which can create end-of-life challenges. Cups coated with Solus™, a biobased performance additive, are compostable and recyclable. So your cup can find a second life.

Help us give these cups a new life

Feel good knowing that cups with Solus™ can be recycled or composted.

Recyclable

Placing your cup in the paper recycling bin helps turn old cups into new products and keeps waste out of landfills. Cups coated with Solus™ are compatible in the paper recycling system. Check with your local recycling program to ensure proper end-of-life management.
