Eastalite Copolyesters

Eastman Eastalite™ copolyester is a sustainable alternative to high-impact polystyrene (HIPS) in the opaque rigid medical packaging market. Eastalite offers advantages in many applications where lightweighting and other sustainable attributes are part of the fitness-for-use requirements.

Eastalite is a foamed copolyester resin. When extruded into sheet, Eastalite can be cut with minimal generation of particulates or angel hair. It can save processing and inspection time, reduce waste and cleaning, and ultimately lower processing costs when compared with HIPS. Eastalite copolyester resin is manufactured—and its use is licensed and supported—by Eastman Chemical Company, a leader in medical polymers and foam technology.

Major Applications include:

  • Rigid medical packaging for medical devices
  • Thermoformed pharmaceutical packaging
  • Medical kits
  • Work-in-process trays
  • Mounting cards
