It is one of the many highly effective techniques to bond materials, such as plastic, wood, or metal, when creating point-of-purchase displays and in-store fixtures. - Use screws designed specifically for plastics.
- For best results, drill a pilot hole to prevent bulging near fasteners.
- If bolting parts together, allow for thermal expansion and contraction by drilling oversized holes.
- Use sharp tools to avoid chips and notches and to ensure holes have smooth edges.
- Use of washers is suggested when bolting for better load distribution.
- Use metal inserts if frequent assembly/reassembly is involved.
- Inserts are not recommended where thermal expansion and contraction may occur.
- Do not overly tighten or use self-tapping screws.
