Eastman coatings experts to be featured in Tomorrow’s World Today on the Science Channel

KINGSPORT, Tenn., May 1, 2019 – When the executive producer of the Science Channel show “Tomorrow’s World Today” began searching the world for innovative companies creating new ways to utilize our natural and technological resources for a more sustainable lifestyle, he found Eastman.

The Emmy-nominated technology and innovation program returns to the Science Channel in May, and Eastman is featured in a three-part series as the TWT team highlights innovation leaders in the materials industry. The first episode airs Sunday, May 5, at 8:30 a.m. EDT.

“Our team is dedicated to discovering new and exciting technologies that are promoting sustainability and innovation,” said Julian Taylor, the TWT executive producer whose research led the show to Eastman. “We’re very excited to work with Eastman on this series to show how their innovation and commitment to sustainability is helping our environment today and tomorrow.”

On May 5, “Tomorrow’s World Today” puts the spotlight on the future of coatings and how Eastman’s innovation thought leadership is pushing the envelope in that industry, so coatings stand up better to the elements and do not scratch as easily. Eastman Tetrashield™ protective resin systems are groundbreaking products which enable paint formulations to be applied more efficiently in auto manufacturing paint shops, conserving energy and promoting sustainability.

“Eastman has countless stories that are worth telling, and we’re excited to be featured on a show so clearly focused on companies and people who make a difference through innovation,” said Steve Crawford, Eastman senior vice president and chief technology officer. “The ‘Tomorrow’s World Today’ episodes that air in May will illustrate a few of our innovative products and the team members who are responsible for them, people who work in diverse areas that range from our testing labs to our innovation centers to our manufacturing facilities.”

In the May 5 show, Tamara Krinsky, discovery reporter for “Tomorrow’s World Today,” travels to Kingsport, Tennessee, the location of the company’s global headquarters, its largest manufacturing site and its world-class scientific testing facilities. Testing facilities featured on the show include a large robot that sprays objects with coatings to simulate an automotive paint shop, as well as the Eastman Weathering Facility, which uses cutting-edge science to subject objects to years of withering sunlight, salt air and wet conditions in a fraction of what it would take in real time.
