PACE, Fla., September 5, 2019 – Taminco’s manufacturing facility in Pace, Florida, recently received two prestigious recognitions for its commitments to energy management and continued operational improvements.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency recognized Taminco Pace Operations with the ENERGY STAR® Challenge for Industry for reducing the site’s energy intensity by 16% within four years. By taking the ENERGY STAR Challenge, manufacturing sites set a goal to reduce their energy intensity by 10% within five years. Pace Operations is one of five Eastman-owned facilities to receive the ENERGY STAR® Challenge for Industry award.
“We take our commitment to sustainability and responsible operations seriously, as evidenced by the company’s eight consecutive ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year awards,” said Wayne Henson, Pace Operations site manager. “We are proud to play our part in the company’s progress.”
The Florida Sterling Council and FloridaMakes also recognized the facility as a runner-up in the 2019 Florida Sterling Manufacturing Business Excellence Awards. Companies were judged on leadership, strategy, customer and market focus, measurement, analysis and knowledge management, workforce and operations.
During the application and interview process, the site showcased its strengths in business plan development and execution, continuous improvement and managing change – notably its strength in managing change by reducing risk through its process to capture key knowledge and information. The site also shared its commitment to the community through its support for workforce development through the Northwest Florida Manufacturing Council to engage local schools and raise awareness of manufacturing career opportunities.
“I’m incredibly proud to have our site recognized among the best manufacturers in the state of Florida,” said Henson. “This achievement is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our site team members and recognizes the great work they do every day.”
